Antisemitism: A Threat to Democracy

This event will address how antisemitism—one of the world’s oldest forms of hatred—is not just a concern for Jews. It is a warning sign for all regarding the health of democracy itself.
When any group is targeted with misinformation, discrimination and violence, it undermines the democratic values of equality, pluralism and the rule of law.
Our speaker will examine the rise of antisemitism and its broader implications for our country’s democratic institutions and our civic life.
Additionally, we will learn how to recognize common myths, tropes and conspiracy theories, and how to counter antisemitism at a personal level and at a community level.

Our featured speaker is Karen Stiller, Senior Director of Jewish Affairs for the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Bay Area (JCRC). A resident of Fremont, she is deeply committed to interfaith work, and currently serves as Chair of the Fremont Human Relations Commission.
